One Lap of America

Long story short, One Lap has evolved from a Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) rally that circumnavigated the United States to a series of time trial (TT) events held on some of the United States finest racetracks over a six or seven day period. In general, the only limitations to modifications are found in tire selection, and the fastest car and team that survives a week of highway miles and time trials wins. With highway transit miles sometimes exceeding 6000 miles in seven days and several time trials each day, One Lap is a grueling test of a team and their vehicle, and it isn't always pretty.

One Lap has the unique distinction of being gratifying to those who don't win as much as it is for those who do. Sometimes, just finishing is an accomplishment worth bragging about. It's a great way to become involved in competition on a varied set of racetracks ranging from dirt ovals to world class road courses, drag strips to skidpads. It's a great way to find out how fast you are not, and how fast your car is not, when an event attracts all kinds it also attracts some of the best.

The following table represents the Lake Effect Racing history of Onelap participation. Several years are fully documented, others we'd just as soon forget. However, most of the valuable lessons came from the years that didn't go so smoothly.
